Smile Foundation is creating new opportunities for thousands of Indians through its Skill Training and Employability initiatives. The foundation, established in 2002, now runs more than 400 projects focused on education, healthcare, and livelihood.

From Smile Foundation Training To Employment

As an Indian development organisation, Smile Foundation impacts the lives of over 15 lakh children and their families annually. Its women’s empowerment programmes have also reached over 2,000 remote villages and urban slums across 25 states.

According to its website, the foundation’s Livelihood programme connects unemployed or underemployed youth from disadvantaged groups with high-growth sectors. This offers them strong revenue and employment potential.

One of the beneficiaries, Nabeegh from Darya Ganj, Delhi, explained how the foundation changed his life.

“Today, I am learning, earning, and standing by my family,” he said.

“When my family faced financial difficulties, I knew I had to step forward. Through Smile Foundation’s Skill Training and Employability programme, I gained practical skills and the confidence to begin working,” Nabeegh added.

He is now employed at McDonald’s while continuing his college studies. His income supports his family and helps fund his education, a journey that has given him stability, direction, and self-belief.

Between 2023 and 2024, the foundation trained 9,000 youths and placed 5,500 in jobs. It also upskilled over 1,00,000 painters across 25 states. Additionally, more than 800 Indians have received career counselling sessions and industry exposure visits through the foundation.

In a separate development, the Uday Foundation in North India has announced the launch of its Blanket Donation Drive 2025 for underprivileged communities. The initiative aims to provide warmth and basic relief as winter temperatures fall across the region.

According to the United Nations, volunteering plays a crucial role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Experts advise that when exploring ways to volunteer, individuals should match their skills and passions to the needs of people, communities, or organisations.
