A severe winter storm has begun sweeping through some areas of the United States, leaving about 800,000 people without power. Damages caused by the storm require that aid, critical supplies, and early response efforts be made available.

US Regions in Need of Aid as Winter Storm Hits

Good360, in an X post, has announced that it is currently supporting local non-profits that are in high-risk areas threatened by the winter storm in the U.S. with critical supplies. The winter storm has significantly affected large portions of the central, eastern, and southern United States.

With over 800,000 people left without power, critical supplies are needed by affected individuals to survive the harsh conditions. Schools, roads, and even flights have been cancelled due to the intensity of the winter storm.

Good360 announced that it would be helping local non-profits with preparedness and early response efforts, including the distribution of critical supplies such as batteries and flashlights. It will also extend aid to areas that are at risk of being affected by the storm.

“As this storm unfolds across multiple regions and continues to evolve, our priority is ensuring communities and nonprofit partners have access to essential products that can support safety, warmth, and resilience,” said Cinira Baldi, CEO of Good360.

Similarly, another non-profit organisation, World Vision USA, announced via an X post that it is responding swiftly to assess the damage caused by the storm and prepare relief. The blackout caused by the storm is expected to last for about a week.

Non-profits Providing Disaster Relief

Non-profit organisations have been playing a big role in disaster relief in the United States. While local charities with their knowledge of the environment ensure that emergency services can be delivered swiftly, larger non-profits help with the provision of needed aid.

These efforts are pivotal in supporting the government in tackling the destruction that comes with natural disasters. Most importantly, they are also helpful in ensuring that affected people get enough support.

The provision of aid for natural disasters in the U.S. is increasingly important, especially due to the increased frequency of high-cost weather events and disasters. Since 2024, the United States has suffered serious high-profile disasters ranging from hurricanes, winter storms, wildfires, and flooding, among others.

The increased frequency of these disasters has also been attributed to climate change. Charities and non-profits are also at the forefront of the battle to protect the environment.
