Peppa Pig character joins London Marathon to raise funds for deaf children

A Peppa Pig character will be participating in the London Marathon to raise funds for deaf children. The initiative will help support about 54,000 kids.

Daddy Pig to run in the London Marathon

Daddy Pig from the Peppa Pig TV show will run in the London Marathon to raise funds for the National Deaf Children’s Society. The London Marathon is a 26.2-mile race through the capital on 26 April.

The race is expected to raise about £54,000 which The National Deaf Children’s Society will direct funds to help over 54,000 kids.

However, while a Daddy Pig character will be participating in the real Marathon, the storyline will also feature in the show. The episode will air on April 18.

This follows after Daddy Pig’s son, George Pig, has been diagnosed with moderate deafness. This storyline features in both the show and the fundraising effort.

Before the main Marathon, the Peppa Pig family will appear at the TCS Mini London Marathon on April 25. This will help encourage children to participate in the one-day sporting event.

Additionally, supporters can track Daddy Pig’s progress through an official marathon app. The app also allows donations to the cause.

There will also be a Peppa Pig-themed celebration after the event. The celebration will feature a Peppa Pig fan zone, along with other activities and refreshments.

National Deaf Children’s Society to help deaf children

Funds raised by the National Deaf Children’s Society through the marathon will help deaf children in the UK. It helps in providing guidance, campaigning, and specialist local services.

Hugh Brasher, chief executive of London Marathon events, expressed his excitement in supporting the initiative. He noted that it will shine a light on something that affects so many people.

Similarly, George Crockford, chief executive of the National Deaf Children’s Society, expressed gratitude to Daddy Pig for participating in the marathon. He also appreciated other marathon runners for their contribution to the cause.

“Every penny they raise helps ensure we can be there for more deaf children and their families when they need us most—whether that’s providing one‑to‑one guidance through our Helpline, campaigning for lasting change, or offering specialist local support,” he said.
