World Central Kitchen delivers aid to Guam after Super Typhoon Sinlaku

World Central Kitchen’s relief team has deployed to Guam and is now delivering food and water to communities. This is to provide aid to those devastated by Super Typhoon Sinlaku, the strongest tropical typhoon so far in 2026.

Super Typhoon Sinlaku lashes Guam with 185 mph winds

According to WCK, the Category 4 storm lashed the western Pacific island with torrential rain and hurricane-force wind gusts before its arrival. Although Guam avoided a direct hit.

The powerful system has already downed power lines. It also left large areas of the island flooded.

Super Typhoon Sinlaku packs winds of up to 185 mph and moves slowly, prolonging the impact across the region. Forecasters predict more storm surges, destructive winds, and an additional 6 to 12 inches of rain.

“This raises the risk of flash flooding as the storm passes,” WCK said.

WCK team coordinates with local partners as early-season storm breaks regional norms

The typhoon arrived unusually early in the year. Most typhoons of this strength typically occur between July and November in the region.

World Central Kitchen’s team is, however already on the ground, coordinating with local partners to reach affected families.

The organisation said this remains a quickly evolving situation. It also pledged continued support to ensure communities receive the assistance they need.

In a recent development, World Central Kitchen has provided aid to Madagascar following the destruction caused by a cyclone on the island. With access to food and water now cut, the organisation is working with local partners to provide basic requirements.

Meanwhile, a renowned Spanish chef, José Andrés has also issued an urgent warning that World Central Kitchen (WCK) will run out of food. He emphasizes that WCK will be forced to halt operations unless Israeli authorities reopen closed border crossings into Gaza.
