The Global Sumud Flotilla, which is headed for Gaza, has revealed a real-time tracker that indicates the flotilla’s location. The tracker also shows the number of boats that are part of the aid fleet.
Real-time tracker shows Global Sumud Flotilla’s location
Organisers of the Global Sumud Flotilla announced in a post on X that a real-time tracker for the aid convoy is now live as the boats travel to Gaza. Forensic Architecture, Flotilla’s partner, developed the tracker.
Forensic Architecture is a non-profit that investigates state and corporate violence.
The tracker shows the location of the flotilla, how many boats are part of the convoy, and can also display the boats’ trajectories.
According to the tracker, as of April 16 (12:21 UTC), 38 boats are currently moving with the flotilla. The boats are currently sailing across the Mediterranean Sea. The flotilla is headed toward Italy, where additional boats will join it.
Bad weather initially delayed the departure of the flotilla from a port in Barcelona. The storm later cleared, and now the flotilla is in the water, headed towards its mission.
Greenpeace’s ship, Arctic Sunrise, accompanies the flotilla. The ship will provide technical and operational support, helping the boats safely cross the Mediterranean Sea.
Moreover, the flotilla mobilised in response to a call for aid from Gaza. Its mission is to deliver humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza and challenge the Israeli blockade of aid in the region.
As the mission progresses, the organisers expect that more than 100 boats and 1000 participants will join the flotilla on its way to Gaza. They expect additional boats to join the convoy from Italy, France, Tunisia, and Greece.
