Princess Kate completed Britain’s National Three Peaks Challenge, climbing the three highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales within a single 24-hour period. The feat was undertaken in support of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, the London hospital where she received treatment during her own cancer diagnosis.
A personal mission on the mountain
The challenge required Kate to summit Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Snowdon in Wales, covering 23 miles of ascent and more than 10,000 feet of elevation, with 462 miles of driving between each location. She completed the route alone, supported along the way by Britain’s Mountain Rescue charity.
“I have taken on the National Three Peaks Challenge, not simply as a physical endeavor but as a chance to explore life beyond diagnosis and to give something back,” Kate wrote in a statement shared on social media. At the end of the climb, Prince William and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, joined her parents and brother to greet her at the finish.

Kate, who confirmed in January 2025 that her cancer had gone into remission following preventative chemotherapy, said the challenge was about more than physical endurance. She used the platform to spotlight what she described as the importance of treating the whole person, not just the illness, throughout the cancer journey.
“Through this challenge, I want to raise awareness for the deeper impact of serious illness and the importance of holistic healthcare,” she said. “The journey through and beyond treatment requires more than medicine alone.”
Her remarks align with growing conversations around holistic approaches to cancer recovery that charities and health advocates are increasingly championing.

Kate and Prince William are joint patrons of the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, which operates the cancer charity she chose to support. The princess described the organization as holding “great meaning” for her and as a “life-changing” treatment center for many patients across the United Kingdom.
The Three Peaks Challenge remains one of Britain’s most recognized endurance fundraising events, and Kate’s participation is expected to draw significant attention and donations to the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
