About
Jerry Jones is an American businessman, sports executive and philanthropist best known as the owner, president and general manager of the Dallas Cowboys. Born in Los Angeles in 1942 and raised in Arkansas, he built his early business career in the oil industry before purchasing the Cowboys in 1989. Under his ownership, the franchise became one of the most commercially prominent teams in professional sports. Jones and his wife, Gene, have also used the family's business platform and the team's visibility to support charitable initiatives across North Texas and beyond.
The Gene and Jerry Jones Family Foundation serves as a central vehicle for their community giving, with priorities that include youth football, health and wellness, Hispanic outreach, women's causes and support for military veterans. The family has maintained a longstanding partnership with The Salvation Army, helping raise awareness and funds through the Cowboys' annual Thanksgiving Day Red Kettle Campaign. Their philanthropy also supports the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation, including a reported $20 million contribution in 2021. Through the Gene and Jerry Jones Family Arlington Youth Foundation, they fund programs and facilities serving young people in Arlington, with grants supporting athletics, education, health, wellness and the arts.
