About

The Knights of Columbus is an international Catholic fraternal organization founded in 1882 by Father Michael J. McGivney in New Haven, Connecticut. Established to provide financial assistance and support to Catholic families, the organization has grown into a global network of members committed to faith, family, service, and community involvement. Its guiding principles are charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism. Through local councils, members participate in religious activities, charitable projects, family programs, and community service initiatives designed to assist people in need.

Charitable service is central to the Knights of Columbus' mission. Members organize food drives, support people with disabilities, assist families facing hardship, provide disaster relief, and contribute to initiatives benefiting children and vulnerable communities. The organization also supports Catholic institutions, religious vocations, and programs that promote family well-being. Through fundraising, volunteer service, and partnerships with charitable organizations, the Knights work to address community needs locally and internationally. In addition, its insurance and financial benefit programs help eligible members protect their families. By combining fraternity with practical service, the Knights of Columbus seeks to strengthen families, support communities, and promote charitable action guided by its Catholic values.
