About

Love Binti International is an international non-governmental organisation established in 2015 to improve the lives of women and girls in disadvantaged rural communities across Africa. Founded by Elle Yang after witnessing girls miss school because they could not afford menstrual hygiene products, the organisation began by promoting reusable cloth sanitary pads and menstrual health education. The name “Binti” comes from Swahili and means “girl,” reflecting the organisation’s commitment to caring for and empowering girls and women.

The organisation’s mission is to empower women, improve health and hygiene, and help communities overcome poverty through sustainable development. Love Binti International believes that women are essential to community transformation and that supporting one woman can positively influence an entire family and community. It works to ensure that girls can continue their education, women have access to essential resources, and disadvantaged communities have better opportunities for a dignified and independent life.

Love Binti International carries out its work through three main areas: water, sanitation and hygiene (WaSH); community empowerment; and sustainable infrastructure development. Its activities include constructing boreholes to provide clean water, promoting menstrual hygiene education, teaching women to make reusable sanitary pads, providing vocational training in tailoring and agriculture, and supporting small businesses through microfinance initiatives. The organisation also renovates classrooms, develops community facilities, and promotes environmentally friendly cooking technologies to improve living conditions and educational opportunities.

Through its projects and partnerships, Love Binti International aims to create lasting change by equipping women and girls with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to build better futures. Its approach emphasises sustainability, empowerment, equality, inclusion, and community participation. By addressing challenges such as menstrual poverty, limited access to clean water, inadequate educational facilities, and unemployment, the organisation works towards stronger, healthier, and more self-reliant communities where women and girls can reach their full potential.
