LOS ANGELES–Skechers announced that its philanthropic brand BOBS® from Skechers® has surpassed $14 million in donations to thousands of animal welfare organizations in the United States and internationally—funds that have found homes for more than 2 million shelter dogs and cats. And the Company that’s famous for offering comfort to the world is celebrating BOBS in a new way, highlighting the true stories that show how shelter pets comfort, nurture and support the people who have welcomed them into their homes.
“Saving every rescue pet and supporting every shelter and animal welfare organization is meaningful—and by giving $14 million over the past decade, we’ve had a remarkable impact on animals in need in our country and the world,” said Michael Greenberg, president of Skechers. “In just the first half of this year, our funds have helped save and support thousands of dogs and cats—and we’re confident that our 2026 donations to national nonprofit Best Friends Animal Society will drive a new level of awareness and change the lives of even more pets and people.”
It’s a story that Jake Woodruff knows firsthand. A neurodivergent musician and artist who appeared on the second season of Love on the Spectrum, Woodruff met his shelter dog Pablo at a BOBS pet adoption event in 2024. The two have become inseparable: Pablo helps him navigate his challenges with autism, eases his anxiety, and helps him stay active and interact with others—improving his socialization and well-being. “Growing up, I repressed my behavior to fit in, and Pablo’s playfulness has made me loosen up,” said Woodruff. “Emotionally, I feel like my baseline has risen and I have fewer days where I feel strong anxiety. Having him to keep me company and care for has helped shift my focus away from worrying about myself and other distractions.”
Best Friends Animal Society cat expert Samantha Bell also found her life purpose through her shelter pets Yohan and Desmond. “I was working a corporate desk job and volunteering in the kitten nursery, bottle feeding kittens. Yohan was struggling for life in an incubator… I started volunteering almost every day to make sure I could feed him, and see how he was doing. While I was there, I realized it wasn’t just Yohan I was falling in love with—it was animal rescue. [Yohan and Desmond] are the reason I work in animal welfare. They are the reason I’ve been able to help thousands of cats feel happy and find homes. They’ve impacted my life and they’ve impacted people’s lives all over the country.”
Added Bell: “Skechers can reach millions of amazing people who may have never thought twice about pets in shelters. Skechers’ commitment is so much more than amazingly helpful financial support; it’s also the gift of visibility. Partnerships like this make saving more pets’ lives possible.”
Throughout May’s National Pet Month, Skechers celebrated its renewed partnership with Best Friends Animal Society; the Company has committed $500,000 to Best Friends through year’s end to help the national nonprofit end the killing of dogs and cats in America’s shelters. Skechers launched two new designs by winners of its Paws for a Cause Design Scholarship, hosted a national register round-up that raised $124,000 to support Best Friends and its network of 6,000 shelters and rescue groups, and found homes for shelter dogs and cats through pet adoption events at Skechers locations in West Clifton, New Jersey; Salt Lake City, Utah; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Miami, Florida.
“We’re so grateful for the generous support provided by BOBS from Skechers to Best Friends Animal Society and shelters and rescue groups nationwide,” said Julie Castle, CEO, Best Friends Animal Society. “In just one month, this collaboration has already had a huge impact on pets and people around the country. Every adoption brings us closer to a day when no dog or cat dies unnecessarily in a shelter, and that’s truly something to celebrate.”
