About the University of Melbourne Graduate Scholarships

The University of Melbourne Graduate Scholarships are given to top students pursuing research in postgraduate degrees. The scholarship includes the Melbourne Research Scholarship and the Research Training Program Scholarship. These awards are offered to students who show good academic performance and have the potential to contribute positively to their chosen field.

The grant supports candidates enrolled in Master’s by Research or PhD programmes. It covers full tuition fee remission. In addition to tuition support, recipients receive a living allowance to assist with accommodation, food, transport, and general living expenses.

The living stipend is paid every two weeks and indexed annually. The scholarship includes relocation support for students moving from interstate or overseas. International recipients are provided Overseas Student Health Cover for the duration of their visa requirement.

The award duration depends on the degree type. Master’s by Research candidates may receive funding for up to two years, while PhD candidates receive funding for up to three and a half years, with a possible extension of to six months. .
