Elevance Health Foundation’s Patient Safety Prize 2026 is calling for eligible organisations to register for its 2026 prize award cycle. The prize, which has a total funding pool of $5 million, will award organisations and institutions that are working to improve patient safety and remove medication errors from the healthcare system in the United States. Registrations and submission for applications are currently ongoing, and they will end on March 17 and April 7, 2026, respectively. 

About The Elevance Health Foundation’s Patient Safety Prize 2026

In December 2025, Elevance Health Foundation established the Patient Safety Prize to award community-informed solutions and entities working tirelessly to improve patient safety in the United States. The award focuses on three major areas, which are to empower health literacy for patients’ safety, to eliminate medication errors and promote fall-free futures. 

At the end of a rigorous review process, five awardees are shortlisted for the prize. Three winners will receive up to $1.5 million in prize money, and the two other honourable mentions will receive $250,000 each.

Who Can Apply for the Elevance Health Foundation’s Patient Safety Prize 2026

  • Limited liability company

• Registration requirements:

• • Organisations who are duly registered under the 501(c)(3) and 509(a)(1) or (2). 
  • The organisations must have determination letters from the IRS. 
  • They must be based and operate actively in the United States.

Application Process

1. Applicants will have to visit the official grant website to complete the readiness tool form to review their eligibility. 
2. The applicants should register as a new user on the website before the due date of March 17, 2026. 
3. They can then proceed to submit their applications after successful registration before the due date of April 7, 2026. 
4. The applications will undergo thorough reviews. 
5. Five winners will subsequently be shortlisted to receive the prize fund after the reviews.
