Power of Diversity Grants 2026 is now open for applications. The Power of Diversity Funding Facility, managed by the Crop Trust, has launched a EUR 2.2 million grant programme to strengthen the value chains of underutilised but nutritionally rich opportunity crops across six countries. Organisations working in Kenya, Nigeria, Zambia, Tanzania, Uganda, and Colombia are encouraged to submit proposals before the July deadline.

About the Power of Diversity Grants 2026

The Power of Diversity Funding Facility is a multi-donor initiative managed by the Crop Trust, dedicated to conserving, cultivating and promoting the consumption of relatively neglected opportunity crops across Africa and Latin America. Established in 2025 with support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development through KfW Development Bank and the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ireland, the Facility issued its Call for Proposals on 12 May 2026.

Funding Size

  • Total grant pool: EUR 2.2 million
  • Individual grant budgets: typically USD 100,000 to USD 200,000
  • Proposals may cover one or multiple intervention areas, crops, or countries
  • Project duration: October 2026 to March 2029

Who Can Apply

  • Eligible applicants are organisations, not individuals
  • Applicants must have a minimum of three years of in-country experience relevant to their proposed activities
  • The organisation’s average annual revenue turnover from 2023 to 2025 must exceed the budget of the proposed project
  • Proposals must be submitted in English through the official portal

  • Projects must align with the 24 stakeholder-identified intervention areas mapped by country and crop

Application Process

All applications must be submitted through the Power of Diversity Grants online portal. Applicants are required to download and complete the provided templates, answer all eligibility questions, and upload the completed documents through the portal. Submissions sent outside the portal will not be accepted. A virtual briefing session will take place on 29 May 2026 at 3:00 pm CEST, where applicants can get answers to questions about the programme and application process. Registration is required to attend. Questions for the briefing must be submitted in advance by 25 May 2026 to powerofdiversitygrants@croptrust.org.

Selection Notes

All proposals will be evaluated by an expert panel convened by the Crop Trust. Applications will compete both within individual value chains and across the broader portfolio of interventions. The selection process aims to ensure coverage across all targeted value chains while testing a range of approaches, from seed systems to consumer awareness campaigns.
