ISS Junior Fellowship Programme 2026 – Apply Now

The Institute for Security Studies (ISS) and the Bosch Foundation are inviting applications for the inaugural intake of their Junior Fellowship Program on Gender, Human Security and Geopolitics. The programme is designed to empower West Africa’s next generation of policy leaders, with a particular focus on recruiting exceptional young women from across the region.

About the ISS Junior Fellowship Program

Hosted in Dakar and running for ten months, the fellowship places young West African professionals alongside leading African experts to examine the governance challenges holding the region back. Fellows gain direct access to senior decision-makers, contribute to policy solutions, and build career-defining networks across the human security landscape. The programme is jointly administered by the ISS and the Robert Bosch Foundation as part of a flagship initiative on gender, human security, and geopolitics in West Africa.

Who Can Apply

  • Citizens of any West African country
  • Aged under 30 years at the time of application
  • Holders of a Master’s degree in international relations, political science, law, anthropology, sociology, or a related field
  • Individuals with a strong interest in security, gender, democracy, governance, or geopolitics
  • Fluent in English or French; proficiency in additional West African languages is an advantage
  • Confident communicators who are self-motivated and eager to work in a dynamic team
  • Women are especially encouraged to apply

  • West Africa only
  • Fellows are based in Dakar, Senegal for the duration of the programme

Application Process
