For more than 50 years, the San Diego Foundation has helped individuals, families and organizations turn charitable giving into lasting benefits for the San Diego region. Founded in 1975, it manages charitable funds and directs resources toward community priorities, bringing together donors and local partners to address challenges affecting residents across San Diego County.
Its work spans affordable housing, education, health, environmental sustainability, arts and culture, economic opportunity and support for underserved communities. Beyond distributing grants, the foundation provides philanthropic advising and brings nonprofits, businesses, government agencies and residents together to tackle complex regional issues. It also supports donor-advised funds and other charitable vehicles that allow families and institutions to pursue both immediate giving and long-term community investment.
