Arthur M. Blank established his family foundation in 1995 after building his career as co-founder of The Home Depot. Today, the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation is a major U.S. philanthropy focused on transforming communities and expanding opportunity, with much of its work concentrated in Georgia and Montana. The foundation has awarded more than $1.7 billion to charitable causes and has recently committed to substantially increasing its giving over the next decade.

Its grantmaking is organized around youth development, the environment, Atlanta’s Westside, mental health and well-being, and democracy, alongside founder-led initiatives reflecting Blank’s personal interests. Those interests include veterans and military communities, animal welfare, stuttering research and treatment, and support for institutions in Atlanta and Montana. The foundation combines grants with longer-term partnerships, community-led funding and efforts to influence systems and policy.
